The hotel is located very close to the Architectural and Museum Reserve Tsarevets, the Regional Museum of History, Cathedral temple “The Birth of Holy Mother” and the street of handicrafts and souvenirs Samovodska Charshia.
The unique audio-visual show Tsarevets – sound and light, the only one of its kind for the whole Balkan Peninsula, attracts thousands of tourists in Tarnovo every year. The latest 3D Mapping Light Show fills the square of the Monument of Assens with sounds of Bulgarian bagpipes, Shepard’s pipes and drums, and draws with a laser on the façade of the State Art Gallery, the glorious history of Veliko Tarnovo.
Tsarevets Hill is among the 100 national tourist sites of Bulgaria.
Trapezitsa hill is situated northwest of Tsarevets, once connected to each other through a bridge over Yantra River, carved in the rocks. In the XX century during archaeological excavations the foundations of 17 churches were found, richly decorated with frescoes and colorful mosaics. A Number of coins and jewels were found, proof of affluence during this period. Here were the homes of the higher clergy and the nobility of the city. A stone pathway leads to the gates of the preserved “The holy 40 martyrs” church, in which the relics of Tsar Kaloyan were laid. There are two assumptions for the name Trapezitsa. One is associated with the word “table”, and the other with the trapezium due to the form of the plateau.
In the early Byzantian period the Maiden’s Fortress, located east of the hill Tsarevets defended the route from Nikopolis to Istrum. Today it is an archaeological reserve, located 18km away from Tarnovo in the direction of Ruse city. Assen’s Neighborhood is located at the foot of the hill with a number of preserved churches along with the picturesque Bishop’s bridge.
Sveta Gora use to be the intellectual and cultural centre of the old Capitol. Today at the top of the hill lays the University of Veliko Tarnovo.
Arbanassi village is located 4 km to the northwest of Veliko Tarnovo, near the town of Gorna Oryahovitsa. Arbanassi attracts with its unique architecture, many well preserved renaissance house-museums, five churches and two monasteries. Here you can visit one of the most spectacular buildings and architectural monuments of the late 17 century – the Konstanstaliev’s House. In the southwestern part of Arbanassi is the Nativity Church. Amazing views of Tarnovo, numerous dining options and a vast cultural heritage make Arbanassi the perfect place for recreation and tourism.
Just 6 km north of the city, in the direction of Ruse, at the top of impressive sheer cliffs, is located the breathtaking monastery of the Holy Trinity. The monastery was once an important part of literary activity of Patriarch Evtimii and the literary school of Tarnovo. The Holy Transfiguration monastery (Preobrazhenski monastery) is located 7 km. from Tarnovo, on the left bank of the river Yantra.
